Week One Television Coverage, Patriots at Bills
As is typically the case, there will be virtually no coverage nationwide of next Sunday's game against Buffalo. Since the Bills do not have much drawing power the only local stations that will air the games are the eight in New England that comprise the Patriots Television Network, and the seven stations in the western New York region that carry all the Bills games. CBS has not used their top broadcast team on a Pats-Bills game in even years, and that trend is unlikely to end soon. There will be plenty of variety in broadcast announcers to start the 2013 season: the Patriots will not be on CBS again until October.
Here is a list of the stations that will broadcast this week's game:
WFSB ---- Hartford CT
WBZ ----- Boston MA
WSHM -- Springfield MA
WABI ---- Bangor ME
WGME --- Portland ME
WAGM --- Presque Isle ME
WPRI ---- Providence RI
WCAX ----Burlington VTWRGB --- Albany NY
WBNG --- Binghamton NY
WIVB ---- Buffalo NY
WENY --- Elmira NY
WCBS --- New York NY
WROC --- Rochester NY
WTVH --- Syracuse NY
WWNY -- Watertown NY
WSEE ---- Erie PAKEYE --- Austin TX
- edit: Thanks much to Chris Earnshaw for pointing out that the game will also be televised in Albany
- edit#2: In a seemingly random programming decision, the game will also be available in Austin
- edit#3: The game will also be available in New York City. Normally this would not happen since the Jets are playing at home at the same time. However, CBS has no late games and both networks have to have at least one game available in every market every Sunday; therefore, that 'other' blackout rule is waived for this one day.
